I'm proud to introduce to you the newest concept in cigars. Sometime in April, I was travelling with a cigar manufacturer somewhere south of the Lehigh Valley when I turned to him and said "I'd like you to make me a cigar." I explained that I wanted a powerful smoke with some kick and lots of flavor. I then told him that I would name the cigar "Cojones" and add the tag line "Smoke 'em if you got 'em."
We laughed a bit at the concept until he realized I was serious. In a few days, he returned to his factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic and got his best blender to start working on the project. Just a few short weeks later, I received some of the tastiest cigars I've had the priviledge of sampling in my 10+ years in the business. They had simple white bands with the letters 'L1' and 'L2' on them (Liga Una & Liga Dos). They were both runaway winners but I chose the L1 for my introduction simply because it had less power and more flavor. And that is what you see in the picture above.
The name of my newfound friend and partner is Juan Rodriguez. He's got a small factory about 8 miles east of Santiago called Don Leoncio and truly produces some of the finest cigars I've had the pleasure of selling to retailers in my territory.
